New England Pole Championship
Rules
GENERAL
All competitors for the Women’s Professional and Open Novice Division must be legal residents of one of the following states: Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and New York.
- Professional Women's and Men's competitors must be at least 18 years of age at the time of the competition and must be US citizens or legal residents.
- Open Novice Competitors must be at least 14 years of age at the time of the competition and must be US citizens or legal residents.
- Competitors agree that New England Pole Championship (NEPC) can use all photos and video footage from the event for advertising, promotional and commercial uses.
- Competitors must use their legal name on the application and official paperwork. You are allowed to use a stage name on your submission video, in the competition, and in all publicity related to the competition
- Competitors may not communicate with the judges at any time while the event is taking place.
- Winners must be willing to represent the NEPC and all affiliated parties/sponsors in the most positive light after the competition.
FINALISTS:
- There will be 8 finalists for the Women’s Professional Division, selected by an online judges panel.
- There will be 6 finalists for the Men’s Division, selected by an online judges panel.
- There will be 8 finalists for the Open Novice, selected by an online judges panel.
- All finalists will be notified via email by July 15th, and finalists will be announced on our website and Facebook page as soon as everyone has confirmed their participation and signed the competitor agreement.
- All finalists will receive a package containing all information about the competition, including liability waivers, scoring sheets, stage dimensions, and other rules and regulations.
- Finalists can not train privately with any of the final judges until after the competition, but are allowed to take workshops and classes.
COMPETITION RULES:
- All routines must be between 2:30-3:30 minutes.
- All routines must incorporate both spin and static pole.
- Competitors must not be under the influence of alcohol or drugs at any time on the day of the competition, until after the completion of awards.
- No explicit music; radio edits only. Music mixes or mash-ups are allowed. Music will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis. No two competitors in any division will be allowed to have the same music.
- Grip aids are allowed, but may not be applied to the poles, only directly to the competitor. No rosin based grip aids or grip aids that leave residue on the pole are allowed. Gloves are not allowed while competing.
- Competitors must wear appropriate dance attire at all times. No nudity will be allowed, and severe costume malfunctions (exposure of intimate body parts) will lead to point deductions. Bottoms should not allow for excessive gluteal exposure (no g-strings, thongs, or side-tie bikini bottoms). For females, tops must cover the breasts (nothing smaller than a triangle bikini top). Costumes may not have any visible logos. If you have any questions about whether your costume is appropriate, email Juel at info@NEpolechampionship.com for approval. All costumes must be submitted for approval by August 15th (actual or sketch).
- Removal of clothing is allowed as long as the minimum attire described above is in place through the whole performance.
- Competitors may dance barefoot or in heels. Shoes must not be higher than the ankles.
- Props must be approved by the organizer via email no later than August 15, 2015. Props need to be brought on stage and removed by the competitor in 30 seconds or less. No fire, sharp edges, liquids, or live props will be allowed.
- Scoring will follow the same breakdown as the PCS Championship
- -Technical score - Maximum 50 points
- -Artistic score - Maximum 25 points
- -Stage Presentation - Maximum 25 points
Additional detailed rules will be sent to competitors after they are accepted.
Prizes
- The winner of the Women's Professional division will receive $500 and the spot to compete at the PCS Championship in March. If there are 15 applicants or more, the winner will receive $1000
- The winner of the Men's Professional division will receive $500. If there are 15 applicants or more, the winner will receive $1000
- The winner of the Open Novice division will receive $250.
